C. Old Business
1) Name change status. Bills, Phone listing , Paypal still has BB&C remnants
2) Signage: TV in the window added timer, a bit awkward to operate. Needs jpgs advertising fall events. Dorothy to  ask Laura to cut shrubs. Also need stick on lettering to complete window.
4) No publicity director: but Dorothy renewed the ads in Used Victoria, Craigslist.               Speakers – 83 Browsed, 2038 to date     Teaching – 420 Browsed, 11,604 to date              Membership – 206 Browsed, 12,031 to date

5) Membership online forms and processing: Who does what? Ron Kehn called by George Bowden to design new envelopes, or Barkley

D1. President – Picnic. July 15th.
– Gallery on website. Meeting with photo group this week
– Silver Threads cooperation. George joined Silver Threads, but needs to follow up for fall classes.

Windows 10 SIG Plan

Here are some results from our first SIG

Plan responses to window10 prompts:

  • Click window icon in task bar’s notifications and then click for more information
  • If hardware is reported as incompatible then go to hardware manufacturer and look for drivers, or…  google the exact phrase on the web.  Or buy a new card or computer. Run hardware and software reporter like Belarc Advisor to get a list of your hardware and software
  • Or do updates in windows7 or 8 and wait till the updates to say you can upgrade.

Before upgrading, backup your computer with more than Windows backup, something like Macrium Reflect or Acronis onto external hard drive (3 hr job).  Include ensuring that you can boot from a removable flash drive or CD.

Other notes:

  • Must have windows 7 or 8 to do free upgrade to Windows 10
  • Upgrade before July 29, 2016 for the free version
  • Plan several hours for the upgrade.
  • Note that windows media center, free in Windows 7, costs $USD 15.00 in windows 10.

APCUG photo and website contest deadline Aug 26

This is your friendly reminder that the clock is ticking on submitting your entries. They are due no later than August 26.

1 – Presidents – have you forwarded the Digital Photo Contest guidelines to your members so they can enter the contest? I’m sure we have many more great photographs out there but they haven’t been entered in the contest.

2 – Editors – have you submitted your newsletters (last 3 issues of 2014)? I know groups are losing their editors and many are having no one volunteer to take his/her place but it’s great that two groups have had a member step up to take on putting the newsletter together. I also know there are many more newsletters than we have received as entries. I personally think it’s one of the best benefits a group can have.

3 – Webmasters – we have a gazillion updated websites which is a good thing since we used to have a gazillion outdated websites. But….they have not been entered in the contest.

For those people who are receiving this e-mail that are not presidents, editors, or webmasters — how about making sure your group participates in the contests.

The guidelines for the contests are attached. I’m also taking this opportunity to send you the new Member of… logo for your website and / or newsletter (two versions attached).
